Yangon is the Capital of Myanmar. In 1755 King Alaung Phaya founded it on the site of a small village call Dagon which he occupied. Yangon means "End of Strife". Before 1988, Yangon was formally known as Rangoon. It is situated in the south of Myanmar. Surrounded on three sides by water: Pazundaung Creek, Hlaing River and Bago River. Yangon covers 350 sq km and has a population of over 5 million.
